Inspirational Friends

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Pleasant Grove triathlon. It was awesome! As I was sitting on the corner during the running portion, so many of the runners would wave and say "Thank you for helping". I thought that was great that they would use energy they needed for the race to express their gratitude.

There was once situation though, that touched my heart and I would like to share it.
After I left my "running station", I went and helped out at the pool for the swimming portion of the race. Pretty much everyone had finished the race and I checked with those in charge to see if we were done. I was told that there were 3 more ladies still finishing up the bike portion. About 1/2 hour after every one else had finished the race, one of the last 3 ladies came in to swim. Her whole family was just cheering for her (her husband had finished earlier) as she started the swim. After she had finished one lap, the other two ladies came in and started swimming. One of the last two (who were friends) was a much faster swimmer than the other one. But, they stayed pretty close to each other. On the last lap, the one friend waited at the end of the pool so that she and her friend could touch the end at the same time. It was so awesome.

These last three women didn't enter the race to win, they entered the race to show themselves they could do it. When they got out of the pool, families, racers, and volunteers were cheering for them. Racers who had finished quite awhile before had come back to watch them finish and just hugged them and told them what an inspiration they were to them.

I don't know these ladies names, but I just think they are awesome. They were not cute, little, things, they were real women who proved to me that anything can be accomplished if I will just set my mind to it.

Thanks Ladies!!!
