So, I have thought of quite a few titles for this including: "This too shall pass" and "If all else fails, become a Realtor" and such titles like that. You know, things to make you feel better when life isn't quite so great.
The most recent loop in our rollercoaster life has been our search for a home. We began this search last year when we found this home built in 1901 that had a great lot for a great price. We should have known at this time that it was too good to be true. After looking at the home numerous times, we realized that it would have to be torn down and we'd have to start all over again. On to home #2--- a cute 4 bedroom ranch, #3 a one bedroom older house #4, a 3 bedroom weird house that we looked at because it was in our ward (Ok, truthfully, we looked at this house over and over and over and over), #5 - a 4 bedroom split level in our ward, #6 a 4 bedroom split level next door to the other split level in our ward, #7 a tri-level that had all the carpets all ripped out and needed a complete paint job, #8 a totally cute 4 bedroom that the husband wanted to sell and the wife didn't, and finally #9- a cute little 2 bedroom 1 bath home in Pleasant Grove that we actually closed on. (Bryan and Duane, did I miss any?)
Now, the whole point of that was not to make you feel sorry for us as much as I wanted to see if I could still list all the homes that we looked at. And, I think I actually did it! Now, just to make you feel better, we didn't have accepted offers on all of these, nor did we pay for appraisals on all of them- just a few.
Now on to the "good things" part. We moved into our house on Wednesday night with the help of many, many good people. So, this is my very general thank you list---- Thanks to the Elder's Quorum who moved us out of our apartment on a late Thursday night on to trailers, thanks to the Elder's Quorum who unloaded those trailers on a late Wednesday night, thanks to our families for helping us in every way possible and thanks to our realtor/loan dude/bishop/friend (most important) who dealt with all the stupid people (including Bryan and I at times). So, pretty much thanks to all.
So, now, life is fairly good. Mom came down and helped (she did most of it) me unpack and put away the kitchen and a lot of the house-- she also offered comic relief (Aren't I like my mother?) and I am headed to Bear Lake for our "Girls Gone Wild General Conference Weekend". See you all on Monday!
